Sunday Scoop 9-27-15

Well, I have just managed to link up with the Teaching Trio this Sunday. We still have about three and a half more hours until Monday here.

So, as you can see, I have a lot of center work to do this week. Actually, I always have a lot of center work, but it is totally worth it. The kids look at the centers like games and enjoy working on them. This is helpful because I need the kids engaged and working, so I can meet with small groups.

I got the centers (and worksheets) for plural nouns from Teacher's Take-Out. Her Plural Pack is awesome! You can click on the link to see for yourself.

One thing that was missing was a sort. I am all about sorting words this year. It is a great way to introduce new ideas and differentiate for kids who need more support. So, I made a quick plural nouns sort today. I thought maybe other people would like the sort as well, so I put it on TpT as a freebie.

I am also working on a new way to store my centers. I had them in the rainbow drawers that everyone has, but I find that kids have trouble getting the centers out quickly. It makes it a bit of a mess when we are rotating.

I am going to try keeping them in the plastic shoe boxes with labels. I will post about them when I finish them, if they work :).

As you can see, I hope to work on TpT stuff this week. It is so hard to get everything done, but I need to find the time to get more done with TpT. I always enjoy being a part of the TpT community - it inspires me to be a better teacher.

Finally, I have been looking forward to the Once Upon a Time premiere for a ridiculously long time, and it is finally here! I won't be able to watch it until tomorrow, so no spoilers :).

I hope you all have a great week!

Sunday Scoop 5-3-15

Another week of linking up with Teaching Trio for The Sunday Scoop!

I am so lucky that my parents were in town this weekend! My dad put up a new fence where the old one had been knocked down by windstorms this winter. This was a huge help!

We also had the added bonus that they took the three oldest kids swimming for a couple of hours. This gave me a chance to get into the classroom this weekend. I was able to do all of the things that I never have time to do, including planning everything for the week ahead.

Don't get me wrong, I always plan, but I was able to get everything ready as well. I am hoping I won't have to rush around like crazy next week. We will see...

I also have to go grocery shopping and make my salads for next week. This is week three of the salads, and they are the perfect lunch!

Last weekend I made patches for my daughters' leggings. My girls are always putting holes in the knees of their leggings, and it was making me crazy! I sewed cute fabric on to iron-on sticky stuff, and it worked great! Now, I just have to repeat the process ten more times.

While I was in my crafty mode I got stuff to make headbands for my baby girl. I hope i have time for that this week, but I am not super hopeful...

I have been working on getting products ready for my stores this weekend. It has been a rewarding, but long process.

Well, that is it for this week!

Sunday Scoop April 26, 2015

My favorite linky party is here! I love how easy it is to link up with Teaching Trio for The Sunday Scoop. Plus, it makes me reflect on my week ahead which I really enjoy doing.

It was a busy Saturday for us! We had to divide and conquer for games today, and we still had to miss one of the games. Just not enough drivers in the family! Then, after that madness I tackled some toy clutter while my hubby mowed the lawn and took a pile of stuff to the dump. It feels great to be spring cleaning!

I decided to try bringing some toys and clothes to the kids' consignment store instead of donating them. I am thinking I will donate half the money I get back to help even out the karma of selling instead of donating. Eventually I want to get hooked up with a group that gives baby/kid stuff directly to families who need it. The feeling of really helping someone who needs it would be way better than whatever money we get this time.

I have been really trying to focus on living small after reading an article on the schools of Finland. One of the main ideas I took away was that in the United States we have the mentality that more is better. I do notice this about myself (and definitely my kids) sometimes and I want to move away from that idea. Instead, we can focus on what we are already so lucky to have. So, with that idea in mind (and Earth Day last week). I am going to try to patch the many pairs of pants that now have holes in the knees. I am embarrassed to say that I have been known to just throw them out because I hate the girls wearing them with holes. Hopefully the patches will look cute (enough).

Finally, I am really excited to spend some time relaxing with my husband. With so much going on, our relationship is the first thing to get ignored which isn't good for anyone. No big plans, but we are going to be together and that is the best.

What are your plans for this week? Head on over to the Teaching Trio and link up for this week's Sunday Scoop!
